Shelby Nelson is a News Reporter for KESQ News Channel 3. She joined our team in September 2019 after living in San Francisco for 6 years. Shelby graduated from San Francisco State University in 2015, with a degree in Broadcast Electronic Communication Arts (BECA). As a student she interned with various news organizations including KTLA, NBC Sports Bay Area, and 95.7 The Game. She went onto become a writer for KRON 4, and CBS affiliate, KPIX.
Shelby has a passion for storytelling. She also loves to travel and learn about different cultures and languages. She previously lived in Brazil after receiving a federal grant to study at Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos in the country's most southern state, Rio Grande do Sul. Shelby returned to Rio de Janeiro to interview fans for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which then aired on bay area sports radio station, 95.7 The Game.
Shelby recently hiked the Andes in Peru with her sister. Both embarked on the 4-day Inca Trek. Aside from traveling, Shelby loves running, dancing bachata and hiking with her two fur babies, Nala and Tequila.
