Firefighters extinguish Beaumont fire that spread from garage into home

A firefighter was recovering Tuesday morning and two people were forced out of their home after a late-night fire in Beaumont.

Fire crews were called to a garage fire at 10:53 p.m. Monday along the 1400 block of Midnight Sun Drive.

Two cars were burned and the flames also caused damage inside the home, according to CalFire Riverside.

The flames were contained within an hour, according to Battalion Chief Tim Voigt of CalFire Riverside who said, "We have two displaced occupants. They are not seeking assistance from the Red Cross at this time."

The garage suffered severe damage and was considered a total loss. There was some fire and smoke damage to the interior of the home.

One firefighter was treated for injuries at a hospital and released.

There was no immediate word on the fire's cause, but it was under investigation.
