2 boys detained, victim runs away in Thousand Palms stabbing
A Thousand Palms stabbing victim has been found after running from the scene of the attack, according to police.
Riverside County Sheriff's Deputies received reports of an assault with a deadly weapon at 5:00 p.m. along the 31600 block of Thelma Way, Deputy Robyn Flores said.
Deputies arrived at the scene and learned a man had been stabbed. Flores said there had been an altercation leading up to the attack.
Police took witness statements and looked for clues, as neighbors worried about their safety.
"They need to get everything on check because it's starting to get kind of dangerous," said Fernando Avila. "Lately there's been more police, a lot of choppers ... all these guns going around ... knives ... all these teens."
Police quickly located and detained two boys in connection with the stabbing attack.
The man who had been stabbed was gone when deputies arrived. Police launched a search using K-9s and flashlights in the desert area at the end of the street.
After two hours, the man returned to the residence and was treated for non-life threatening injuries at the scene.
He refused paramedics' advice to go to the hospital and get stitches for the stab wound on his back.
