4.1 magnitude earthquake shakes north of San Diego

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake north of San Diego this morning was felt by many throughout the valley.

The United States Geological Survey reported the quake at 9:46 a.m. near the Palomar Observatory in North San Diego County.

USGS reported the preliminary quake as a 4.0M before it was increased again to a 4.1M quake once seismologists reviewed the data.

Several residents in the Coachella Valley reported feeling the shake on social media. 

USGS records the quake was felt as far south as Chula Vista and as far north as Riverside County.
