2 men to be cleared in 1965 assassination of Malcolm X

NEW YORK (AP) — Two of the three men convicted in the assassination of Malcolm X are to be cleared after after insisting on their innocence since the 1965 killing. Manhattan’s top prosecutor tweeted Wednesday that he and defense lawyers plan to ask a court to dismiss the convictions of 83-year-old Muhammad Aziz and the late Khalil Islam. The New York Times reported that prosecutors say authorities withheld evidence in the civil rights leader’s killing. A court date is expected Thursday. Malcolm X was gunned down as he began a speech in Harlem’s Audubon Ballroom.
