Deadly boating accident

A Washington state woman was killed in a boating accident on the Colorado River.

Authorities say 58 year-old Deanna Lewis of Mead, Washington, was knocked into the water just before one Saturday afternoon.

It happened in the city of Needles, east of the Coachella Valley, near the border of Arizona.

Police say Lewis and others had rented personal watercrafts. Officers say one person suddenly accelerated and hit Lewis.

She was taken to the hospital but later pronounced dead.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The accident remains under investigation.
