Homicide investigation underway after man is found dead in Palm Desert

Riverside County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide in a Palm Desert neighborhood.

Sergeant Deanna Pecoraro of the Sheriff's Department told News Channel 3 that their investigation began at around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday in the area of Tennessee Avenue and Oklahoma Avenue.

Authorities said they responded to calls of several gunshots in the area. When deputies arrived at the scene Thursday night, they found a man lying on the street "suffering from trauma to his body consistent with a homicide."

The incident remains under investigation at this time. There was no word on a possible suspect(s) description. The victim has not been publicly identified. The ID will be released after their next of kin is notified.
