Owner closes Tilted Kilt in Palm Desert

One place you won’t be able to go this holiday weekend — Tilted Kilt.

Since re-opening nearly three years ago, the Palm Desert restaurant located at 72191 Highway 111 is officially closed. Owner Russ Dalgetty told KESQ and CBS Local 2 about the closure on Friday morning.

He said management was told about the closure in mid-May and the rest of the employees were informed in June, giving them all time to find a new job.

The owner said the decision to close the restaurant and pub was a personal decision. He’s moving back to Canada with his wife and kids.

He owns the building and land, and it’s now for sale.

Tilted Kilt originally premiered at that location in 2009, but closed in 2011. Dalgetty took over Tilted Kilt and reopened it the following year. The closest Tilted Kilt location is now Temecula.

The location has hosted many restaurants and clubs over the years, including housing South Beach, The Jetty, Captain Cook’s and even The Rusty Pelican.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will post more details about potential plans for the building and any possible land development in the near future.
