Rob Moon prepares to take on his next role: Mayor of Palm Springs

Retired military officer Robert “Rob” Moon is preparing for his new job as mayor of Palm Springs, a city in the midst of a federal corruption probe.

Moon bested City Councilwoman Ginny Foat and six other candidates in Tuesday’s election to win the mayoral job, replacing Steve Pougnet, who opted against a re-election bid.

Moon won the race with 37 percent of the vote, Foat with 25 percent. Former Palm Springs Mayor Ron Oden came in third place with only 13 percent of the vote. Ginny Foat will remain on the council for another two years, her seat was not up during this election cycle.

Mayor elect Moon sat down with KESQ and CBS Local 2 on Wednesday to talk about the win and what’s next for the City of Palm Springs.
