Firefighters battle green waste fire in Desert Hot Springs

Firefighters are battling a green waste fire in Desert Hot Springs. Cal Fire says the blaze broke out just after 4:00 p.m on Thornton Road.

Fire officials say a large pile of green waste, about 50 feet x 20 feet and about 3-4 feet high is burning near a structure but says the structure is not threatened at this time.

Cal Fire expects to be on scene for a couple of hours. Check back for updates.
