Colorado felon behind bars after 7 hour standoff in Palm Springs

A Colorado felon is back behind bars after a seven-hour standoff with police in Palm Springs.

Just after 5 p.m. Friday the Palm Springs Police Department received information that Michael Farrow, 29, was in a residence in the 500 block of Skylar Lane.

Farrow has an outstanding felony warrant for attempted murder in Colorado.

Palm Springs officers and members of the Desert Regional SWAT Team responded to the area and attempted to contact Farrow who had barricaded himself inside the residence.

Just before midnight Farrow surrendered without incident.

“SWAT team responded, initiated contact began negotiations with the suspect which were very prolonged via text messaging, the individual was reluctant to come out, paranoid. And eventually the negotiations were successful and the suspect surrendered peacefully and we took him into custody,” said Lt. Mike Kovaleff with the Palm Springs Police Department.

Residents in two neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution and have since returned to their homes.

Farrow was taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
