Cat lovers play tennis for a good cause

It was a purr-fect day for tennis and fundraising at the second annual Kittyland Tennis Tournament, hosted by our very own Alexandra Pierce.

Kittyland is the valley’s only cat and kitten sanctuary.

Athletes of all abilities faced off on the courts playing for a good cause.

Actress and comedian, Jo Ann Worley, stole the show with her own rendition of a song from the musical “Cats”.

The day was capped off with a raffle of a 55-inch screen smart TV and $500 cash.

Organizers said every dollar counts when you go through 200 pounds a litter each week.

“It’s very hard for us to raise money for cats. You know cats people just don’t feel the same way about cats as they do for dogs. So we need any help we can get from cat people and dog people too,” said Kittyland director Ann Woods

Kittyland is working to raise enough money to remodel their existing facility.

They said they can always use more volunteers at their sanctuary in Desert Hot Springs. Call (760) 251-2700 to donate or volunteer.
