Wednesday 2/19 – Prep playoff girls basketball, soccer and water polo

The CIF-SS playoffs continued on Wednesday as a handful of local teams competed in their respective sport of the winter season.

In girls water polo, Rancho Mirage won 7-3 at home to punch their ticket to D7 title game on Saturday. The Rattlers continue to roll and will look to match the boys program with a championship after the boys won last year.

The Rattlers' CIF-SS D7 championship game is Saturday in Irvine at the William Woollett Aquatics Center.

In girls basketball, Xavier Prep is on to the semifinal in 4AA. The Saints survived a scare, outlasting Orange Vista 44-43 on the road. Xavier will be at home on Saturday in the semifinal.

As for girls soccer, Shadow Hills shutout Coachella Valley in an all-local D6 quarterfinal. The Knights are now on to the semifinal, which will be Saturday on the road.
