The normal high temperature for Palm Springs this time of year is 76° and temperatures will remain above normal by 5°-10° through the rest of the work-week.

A weak ridge of high pressure remains over Southern California through Friday. The warmest day for our deserts will be Friday before things begin to change.

A weak trough of low pressure will dip in this weekend. It will cool temperatures back down to average and below average for many. It will also bring some chances for showers over our mountains and west of our mountains. Snow elevations look to be between 5,000 ft. and 6,000 ft.

There will be a break Monday before more moisture moves in Tuesday through Thursday. This will bring more chances for showers, potentially to the desert as well. We are going to continue to track the area of low pressure and atmospheric river moving ahead of the low pressure to determine the chances as we move through the rest of the week and weekend.

By the weekend, specifically Sunday morning, daylight saving does begin. We will be turning clocks forward one hour and losing one hour of sleep. The Department of Transportation says that daylight saving can save energy, prevent traffic accidents, and reduce crime due to there being more daylight hours. More people tend to spend more time outdoors and this reduces energy used inside of homes by running household appliances less. They say reducing traffic accidents has to do with people driving around more in daylight hours.

The general trend for temperatures is a warming one through Friday before temperatures cool for the weekend with a weak trough of low pressure moving through.
