Palm Springs doctor aiding with medical efforts in Puerto Rico

Doctor Mona Khanna has been in Puerto Rico the past two weeks with the rest of her disaster medical assistance team.

The team has set up tents in San Juan outside of the main hospital to treat patients that have been injured.

Khanna says that they have been treating patients mostly for orthopedic injuries such as amputations and fractures.

She said that the destruction is devastating.

“Unfortunately, this is going to be a terribly long process. Originally, we said weeks to months. It’s going to be months to years until Puerto Rico is restored to its original beauty,” Khanna said.

If you want to help, Dr. Khanna said donations are still needed. Here is a list of charities that are assisting in relief.
