13 weapons seized and 5 arrested in Cathedral City gang sweep

The Cathedral City Police Department’s Gang Unit arrested several individuals and seized multiple weapons during a gang sweep early Thursday morning, police said.

The operation dubbed, Operation Desert Wolf II was conducted at 5:30 a.m. It consisted of several agencies involved in the service of 12 separate search warrants and probation searches throughout the Coachella Valley.

The target of Thursday’s sweep was active members of the Barrio Dream Homes Gang, who are believed to be involved in violent street crimes over the last two years, according to police.

The following suspects were arrested in the raid:

Daniel Garcia, 22, was arrested for weapons possession, having loaded firearm, and being a gang member with a firearm

Daniel Torres, 21, Violation of Probation

David Mares, 19, arrested for weapons possession, high capacity magazines, and stolen firearm, possession of Over a 1000 rifle rounds

Damian Arangure, 27, Arrested for Weapons Possession, Domestic Violence Conviction Weapons Possession, Loaded Unregistered Firearm, Gang Member with a Firearm

Mina Flores, 18, Arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The searches resulted in 13 illegal weapons being seized, and five arrests were made. The weapons consisted of semi-automatic rifles, shotguns, semi-auto handguns, and revolvers.

Additional items of gang indicia were also seized, as well as numerous additional rounds of ammunition.
