Palm Springs Aerial Tramway gets first snowfall
Tourists and locals are headed to the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway to catch a glimpse of something not often seen in Southern California: snow.
Some of out-of-towners traveled across the country just to see more snow.
“It’s gorgeous, definitely worth the trip,” said Chris Paz, who is visiting the valley from New Jersey.
Tram officials said there’s no business like snow business, “People love the snow and when we have the snow kids get to come up and sled and people get to come and experience an entirely different climatic zone, they go from desert to alpine snow in 12 minutes,” said Greg Purdy, the vice president of marketing & public affairs.
But tram officials want to remind everyone the weather is a bit different than on the valley floor.

“People leave Palm Springs in their flip-flops and T-shirts and suddenly they realize they’re in an alpine wilderness, so they don’t have to go outside if they don’t want to but they want to see the view, so dress warmly and if you’re going to hike, be safe,” Purdy said.
