A Taste of Fall for Our Final Week of Summer

The countdown is on with just 7 days until the start of Fall Equinox, September 22nd.

The cooldown you noticed this morning is only going to get better the next couple of days!

Highs are hovering near the century mark today before dropping into the 90s Wednesday and Thursday (and maybe even Friday) as a trough of low pressure over Seattle and Vancouver starts to dig farther south along the West Coast. This will keep our temperatures comfortably cooler with drier air around.

A sea breeze the next few afternoons and evenings will likely lead to some breezy west winds—especially near the passes and desert slopes, where we could see gusts around 20–40 mph.

Wednesday and Thursday will be the coolest days of the week, with highs potentially running about 5 degrees below average. Temperatures barely climb again Friday and a little more so into the weekend.

Prelim models show another weak trough could move through early next week, knocking temperatures back down a few degrees and keeping us near to slightly below average—we'll see how timing and location continue to play out.
