Update 1/3/18:
According to Carlos Mendoza, General Manager of the Embassy Suits, the hotel will reopen on January 11, 2018.
Full statement on the incident:
On December 29 the Embassy Suites by Hilton Palm Desert incurred a failure of the main power supply to the hotel. The resulting damage calls for the replacement of the electrical panels that connect the hotel to the utility company and a complete renovation of the electrical room to accommodate the new panels. Because these panels are all custom made the time to replace the damaged equipment will take approximately three weeks. In the meantime a temporary panel will be installed and the hotel will reopen on January 11, 2018. – Carlos Mendoza, General Manager of Embassy Suites by Hilton Palm Desert

Original Story 12/29/17:
An electrical blaze at the Embassy Suites in Palm Desert Friday afternoon led to the relocation of around 200 guests, as emergency crews worked to contain the flames and restore power to the hotel.
The fire was reported at 12:43 p.m. in a room housing electrical equipment at the hotel, located at 74700 Highway 111.
More than two dozen firefighters and repair crews from Southern California Edison went to the scene, along with members of the Riverside County Emergency Management
Department and the American Red Cross, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.
No injuries were reported, but around 200 hotel guests were relocated to other hotels in the area until repairs could be completed to the Embassy Suites’ electrical system, Hagemann said.
Electricity at the hotel was shut off as a precaution, she said.
