Coachella Valley Animal Campus hosts pop-up pet adoption after flooding closes shelter

Flooding from Tropical Storm Hilary has made it difficult for people to adopt animals from the Coachella Valley Animal Campus.

The shelter has remained closed to for a whole week because of the severe flooding near the Bob Hope off-ramp and Rio Del Sol.

Shelter officials saying they have about 300 animals. With the help of a Palm Desert resident they were able to host a pet adoption pop-up, and waive all adoption fees.

If you weren’t able to make it Saturday, you can try out their online adoption service.

"On our website, all of our animals are still available online, so they can still go on our website, and they can send us a message directly to shelter info at Rivco.com. And we'll reach out to everybody," said Jackie Schart with the Coachella Valley Animal Campus.

The Coachella Valley Animal Campus says they’re open to having more pop-up adoptions in the future.
