How to vote in today’s 28th Senate District mail ballot election

Tuesday is election day for people registered to vote in the 28th senate district mail ballot election. 

As of 5/11/2020 a total of 499,942 ballots have been issued and 159,835 have been returned, according to the registrar.

Given the circumstances, there are no traditional polling places open. This election is being conducted primarily by mail.

The registrar is asking people to go to their website www.voteinfo.net for ballot drop off locations and the limited in-person voting opportunities being offered at a few select locations. You can also cast a ballot at the the registrar of voters office today between 7am and 8pm. 

That office is located at 2720 Gateway Drive in Riverside. If you need special assistance, you can call 951-486-7200 to schedule an appointment to vote in person. 

As for what’s actually on Tuesday’s ballot: this election is to determine who will replace state senator Jeff Stone’s seat. Back in March, there were five candidates vying for the spot and today’s it’s down to two. Voters will see Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, a republican candidate and then Elizabeth Romero, a democrat and Riverside County Board of Education member. 

If you already have your ballot at home, just be sure to drop it off or get it postmarked by the end of Tuesday.
