Coroner identifies pedestrian struck in Cathedral City
Authorities today released the name of a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing a Cathedral City roadway.
Ezequiel Vazquez-Arguelles, 42, whose hometown was unknown, died at the scene of the Sunday evening collision at the intersection of Ramon Road and Shifting Sands Trail.
According to Cathedral City police Cmdr. Julio Luna, Vazquez-Arguelles was crossing from the south side of Ramon Road to the north just after 9 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.
Luna said the driver, who was uninjured, remained at the scene and was cooperative with police.
The fatality remains under investigation, but Luna said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be contributing factors.
