Rep. Mary Bono Mack To Light Christmas Tree In San Jacinto

PALM SPRINGS – Rep. Mary Bono-Mack, R-Palm Springs, will host a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony atop Mount San Jacinto this evening.

The tree is set up at the Palm Spring Aerial Tramway’s mountain station at about 8,500 feet, and the lighting ceremony is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Palm Springs High School Choir is scheduled to sing holiday songs, Lena Zimmerschied of the tramway said.

Tickets to the top of the mountain cost $22.95 for adults, $15.95 for children and $20.95 for seniors. Children under 3 are free, but require a boarding pass.

At 10,834 feet, Mount San Jacinto is the second-tallest peak in Southern California, behind Mount San Gorgonio, which tops out at 11,500 feet.
