Baby Wounded In Cathedral City Shooting Survives Surgery
Cathedral City police were following up on leads Thursday as they investigate the drive-by shooting that killed two people on Tuesday night.
Witnesses told police a group of men in a gold or champagne-colored Chevrolet HHR shot ouf of the windows of the vehicle and sped off.
The bullets hit six people, killing two and wounding four others.
One of those killed was a 16-year-old carrying her baby and the child’s 20-year-old father.
Cathedral City police told News Channel 3 the 2-month-old had undergone successful surgery at Loma Linda Medical Center on Wednesday.
They also interviewed one of the victims who had surgery and was currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
Police believe the shooting was gang related.
The Cathedral City police department is asking the public for help locating the suspects. They were last seen in a newer 4-door Gold or Champagne colored Chevy HHR with tinted windows and stock wheels.
The suspect driving the vehicle is described as a light skinned Hispanic man, about 20-25 years old, clean shave with dark hair and wearing a black “beanie” hat. Anyone with information is asked to call Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-STOP.
