Riverside County Certifies Results From Nov. 2 Election, One Recount Already Requested

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters office certified the results of the Nov. 2 general election on Friday and forwarded the certified results to the California Secretary of State.

The registrar’s office finished counting all the ballots on Wednesday, and certified the results on Friday.

Late in the afternoon, Indian Wells City Council candidate Ted Mertens told News Channel 3 he would be seeking a recount in his race.

“I am soliciting a campaign [to gather] donations to help with the costs,” Mertens said. “According the the County of Riverside, it will cost me between $5000 and $6000. The residents deserve to have a complete accurate tally of votes. 1,182 vs 1,188, 6 votes apart is too close.”

In the event of one or more recounts, the registrar’s office will post recount results daily until all recounts are complete or the individuals who request a recount ask to terminate the recount.

Recounts requests must be filed with the Registrar’s office in writing by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 1.

Anyone interested in seeking a recount should check voteinfo.net, or contact the Registrar’s office at (951) 486-7200 when the office reopens Monday morning after the Thanksgiving holiday.
