5 Taken To Hospitals After Rancho Mirage Multi-Car Wreck
A multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of Bob Hope and Gerald Ford Drives sent two people to the hospital in critical condition Monday afternoon and three others suffering minor injuries.
Paramedic crews from the Riverside County Fire Department received the dispatch call around 11:30 a.m., according to their incident reports.
Forty-five minutes later, fire crews had sawed their way through the mangled heap of vehicles to rescue the people who were trapped inside.
In all, five people were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. Two of them were in critical condition, and three suffered minor injuries.
Their names and ages were not released.
While it’s difficult to make out the makes and models of the cars involved, it does appear an SUV and several smaller sedans and sports cars were hit.
Cheri Patterson with the Riverside County Fire Department wrote that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
