Graduation ceremony tonight for Cal State San Bernardino-Palm Desert

About 180 students will graduate from Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert campus tonight.

The commencement ceremony is set for 6 p.m. at The Show at the Agua Caliente casino in Rancho Mirage.

Many of this year’s candidates are first-generation college students, and the class includes undergraduate and graduate students and the first graduates from the educational leadership doctoral program, campus spokesman Mike Singer said.

Amanda Harrison, who will be honored as Outstanding Undergraduate Student, and Joseph Boffa, named Outstanding Graduate Student, will speak at the ceremony.

Harrison, a Morongo Valley resident, will receive a bachelor’s degree in biological psychology and is graduating with high honors.

Boffa, a Cathedral City resident, is a teacher in the Coachella Valley Unified School District and will receive a doctorate in educational leadership.
