Group hiking for Alzheimer’s awareness, support

A group working with the Alzheimer’s Association will be hiking the Bump and Grind Trail on Saturday to spread awareness and rally support for caregivers and families facing the horrible disease.

Join Team ‘Fit for Brains’ on a hike June 21 as part of The Longest Day event.

A spokesperson for the group said the event honors the long hours caregivers dedicate to the disease and the families who are dealing with the struggle.

The group encourages folks to bring plenty of water and wear their purple gear to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

The hike begins at 6:30 a.m. but the group will begin gathering at 6 a.m. There will be purple balloons and a sign to direct everyone where to go.

It’s free to attend for all ages, but donations are greatly appreciated.
