Conrad Hilton fails to show at arraignment in Indio

Hilton Hotel heir Conrad Hilton was set to appear in Indio court Monday morning but his attorney was the only one who showed up for his arraignment hearing.

Conrad, the younger brother of Paris Hilton, was due in court for leading officers on a high-speed pursuit along I-10 before crashing his black BMW in Cathedral City last summer.

Hilton was booked on a charge of felony reckless evading a peace officer after the incident, and was released almost immediately by Riverside County authorities on $100,000 bail.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 were at the Larson Justice Center in Indio Monday morning, and a judge ordered Hilton to be back in court on September 17. If Hilton doesn’t appear, there will be a $500,000 warrant issued for his arrest.

According to the district attorney’s office, Hilton is required to appear in court at least once before he can have council appear for him in this case.

While on bail from Indio, Hilton piled up more legal woes. This spring, Hilton pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court to attacking several flight attendants last July while aboard a British Airways flight from London to Los Angeles. As part of his plea agreement, Hilton was ordered to remain inside his home between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

But last June, Hilton was arrested in the Hollywood Hills section of Los Angeles for supposedly violating a restraining order taken out by his ex-girlfriend. That arrest was the latest legal wrinkle for the great-grandson of hotel magnate Conrad Hilton.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will continue to track the case as Hilton returns to court on September 17.
