Rain, Thunder and Lightning hit Valley

Valley residents were treated to a much needed rain shower Saturday morning.

Viewers have been submitting pictures of the rain, and even some great shots of lighting that accompanied the fast moving storm.

CBS Local 2’s Patrick Evans says a flash flood watch is in effect for Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs. A flood advisory has been issued for the rest of the Valley as storms roll through. Palm Springs has picked up 0.10″ of rain, at Thermal, nearly a half inch!

Imperial Irrigation District reported some power outages in Thousand Palms, La Quinta, Indio and Sky Valley. It affected about 200 people. Most of the power has been restored but if your power is still out IID is requesting that you check your main breaker or call 1-800-303-7756.

The California Highway Patrol is only reporting one road closure at this time, that is in Thermal at Jackson and 66th Avenue.
