Crash sparks fire on Cajon Pass

A crash on the main route between Southern California and Las Vegas has injured two people – including a CHP officer- and sparked a 25-acre brushfire but no homes are threatened.

It happened Saturday afternoon in the Cajon Pass on Interstate 15 northeast of Los Angeles.

Della Miller tells KABC-TV she was on a charter bus heading to Las Vegas when a motorcycle cut in front and crashed.

A CHP officer tried to help the rider but an oxygen tank she was using exploded.

Miller says the officer had burns to her arms and face. The CHP calls the injuries serious.

The CHP tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise the biker was thrown and has major injuries.

A July 17 brushfire in the pass burned seven homes and dozens of cars.
