More than 2,000 homes were without power Sunday when a car crashed into a power pole in Desert Hot Springs, prompting repair efforts by Southern California Edison crews.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. at Bubbling Wells Road and San Gorgonio Street in Desert Hot Springs, Edison’s Daniel Yi said.
Affected areas included north of Arena Blanca Road, south of Fairview Road, east of McCarger Road and west of Bubbling Wells Road, Yi said.
As of 11:30 p.m. Sunday, power was restored to all but 323 homes.
Service was expected to be fully restored to the area by 6:30 a.m. Monday, but Yi said the estimate was tentative, due to the extensive damage involved, which includes the downed power pole and subsequent wire damage.
