CareerBuilder Challenge seeking volunteers
If you’re looking for a way to help more than 40 charities at once, now is your chance!
Desert Classic Charities is looking for people to help out with the CareerBuilder Challenge, formerly the Humana Challenge and Bob Hope Classic.
The PGA-sanctioned event hosts more than 1,000 volunteers every year. Volunteers get a hat and t-shirt, as well as special tent amenities and tickets for friends and family.
“We have positions that are marshals, that are transportation, that are hospitality, driving range committee,” lists Scott Easton, managing director of the CareerBuilder Challenge. “Pretty much something for everyone.”
Easton says the new volunteer coordinator, Kristi Hanousek, has gone “above and beyond” to create a pleasant community atmosphere for the volunteers. He said she’s added things like a volunteer tent to boost comradery.
The ideal candidate? “Someone who wants to have fun and wants to give back to their community,” he said.
The event raises money for Desert Classic Charities — so far, more than $56 million since Bob Hope took over the tournament in the 1960’s. The tournament is still paying homage to Hope, with a tent and trophy in his honor, among other things.
“As a charitable organization, volunteers are the life-blood of our organization,” Easton emphasized. “We have over a thousand volunteers that participate every year.”
