New hotel ‘Arrives’ in Palm Springs

A hip new hotel has ‘Arrived’ in Palm Springs.

What was once a vacant lot at North Palm Canyon Drive and Vista Chino is now an architectural landmark. The Arrive is here.

“What’s kinda ironic is the name ‘Arrive.’ We really felt that this site was where you do arrive into town ,” says Chris Pardo, the designer behind Arrive.

The 32 room hotel at 1551 N. Palm Canyon Drive is one of Pardo’s latest Palm Springs inspirations. His creations dot the west coast from Seattle to the Coachella Valley.

“My undergraduate degree was in hotel management before I went into design,” he explains.

Pardo says that drove his desire to start an updated hotel brand, and Arrive mirrors his love of Palm Springs and mid-century modern architecture.

“It also fits into the natural landscape by the use of the steel and natural rusting, low maintenance. The back building kind of mimics the line of the mountains, too,” Pardo explains.

As part of an indoor-outdoor living concept, half of the rooms have patios and fireplaces. They’re also filtered with lots of natural light, which can be blacked out with automatic roller shades, accessible bedside.

The pool has private cabanas, a bocce ball court and fire pits. Also, an ice cream “shoppe,” and coffee roasts from Joshua Tree Coffee Company.

The Arrive complex also boasts a new restaurant, Reservoir, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and a late night menu every day of the week.

“(Everything is) all facing the street trying to have a presence and be part of the community itself,” says Pardo, “rather than closed-off grounds where you walk through a lobby to get to the restaurant in the back of some hotel.”

There’s no front desk. Guests check in at the bar.

When the whole project fully opens, 200 people will be employed.

“We hope that we end up being a very positive influence to the neighborhood growth and for what has already happened before us.”

Rates start at $179 nightly. The Arrive website will go live for reservations next week, about the same time Reservoir is expected to open.
