High Wind Warning Issued For Coachella Valley

Ahigh wind warning isin effect from 11amMonday morning to 8 pmthis evening.

For the San Diego coast and valleys, light winds this morning are expected to increase rapidly by early afternoon as a strong cold front approaches the coast.

Local wind gusts to 60 mph are possible in a few locations. The strongest winds will be along the immediate coast and in the foothills. Winds will gradually diminish Monday evening. There is a potential for damage to trees, power lines, communications towers and other exposed objects.

For the desert, local wind gusts to 60 mph are possible along the desert slopes of the mountains this afternoon and evening. Winds will gradually diminish through Tuesday morning.

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
