Veterans Day Parade In Downtown Palm Springs Draws Big Crowd

PALM SPRINGS – The Veterans Day Parade in Palm Springs was more than just a parade for retired United States ArmyLt. Col. James Ford, “It means the world to me to be finally appreciated. Ford didn’t have a proper welcome home after serving his country for three years in Vietnam. He says, “I’m a Vietnam Veteran and it feels like a welcome home, all these years later, it’s great.”

The Palm Springs Veterans Day parade featured everything from the 29 Palms MarineCombat CenterMarching Band to massive tanks used overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.The Veterans Day parade drew an impressive crowd.Organizers expected over 20,000 to attend the parade. The45-minute parade started at Ramon Road and headednorth on Palm Canyon Drive.

As a grand finale, the29 Palms MarineCombat CenterBand entertained the crowd while fireworks shot into the air.
