Man stabbed while walking dog in Cathedral City

A 56-year-old man was stabbed in Cathedral City Saturday night.

Officers were called to the Eisenhower Medical Center about a stabbing victim just after 11:30 p.m. According to police, the man was walking his dog near Shifting Sands Trail and 33rd Avenue when two men, who both appeared to be about 18 years old, approached him.

The two men demanded the man’s wallet, police said. The victim explained he did not have a wallet, and the two suspects began walking past him. However, that’s when the two men allegedly stabbed the man in his leg.

The 56-year-old suffered a non-life threatening injury and was able to drive himself to the hospital.

Police say one of the men was wearing a white shirt and black pants and was about 5-feet 7-inches in height. The second man is believed to have been wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans. Police believe he is about 5-feet 2-inchesin height.
