A tractor-trailer hauling produce caught fire on Interstate 10 east of Coachella today, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The fire on eastbound I-10 west of the Cactus City rest area was reported shortly after 5 a.m.. The driver wasn’t hurt, CHP Officer Donovan Rice said.
The No. 2 lane of eastbound I-10 was closed for cleanup, and delays were expected for Fourth of July traffic, according to the CHP and Caltrans.
“They have no idea how long it’ll take to get everything cleaned up,” Rice said.
