Investigation underway after deadly Desert Hot Springs crash

A fatal two-vehicle collision in Desert Hot Springs is under investigation today.

Sixty-five-year-old Maria Soto Caballero of Desert Hot Springs died in yesterday’s early-morning crash on southbound Palm Drive near Camino Campanero.

Three people were injured and transported by ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center.

One vehicle caught fire as a result of the head-on collision which is being investigated by the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

Caballero died at the scene, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Desert Hot Springs police were investigating the cause of the collision.
