Hikers find body near Desert Hot Springs

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a body found by hikers Sunday morning in the Sky Valley Hills area of Desert Hot Springs.

Hikers found a dead body just before 10:30 Sunday morning north of Virgo Road and 16th Avenue, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Armando Munoz said.

Sheriff’s authorities and coroner’s officials went to the site to check out the undisclosed human remains, Munoz said.

So far the only details known about the body is that it is male. We don’t yet know the age or manor in which the person died.

Authorities and Coroner’s officials were there for a good portion of the day, with the help of a CHP helicopter to locate the remains.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is calling this a death investigation.
