Hundreds ‘Hike 4 Education’

Nearly 400 people hit the trails Sunday at Lake Cahuilla Recreational Park in La Quinta for the 2nd Annual Hike 4 Education.

The event was hosted by the Desert Sands Educational Foundation to benefit Desert Sands Unified School District students and technology on their campuses.

Proceeds will be used to buy Chromebooks for the classroom. Similar to laptops, teachers can assign homework and students can complete and turn in their homework electronically.

Participants of all ages, including students and their families, had three hikes to choose from: 3 miles around the lake, 5 miles from the lake to Cove Trail or 10 miles from the lake to Bear Creek Trail.
