I 10 back open after semi catches fire

A large tractor trailer caught fire Sunday afternoon on westbound 10 just east of Cook Street backing traffic up for miles.

CHP reports just after 2:30 p.m. smoke was seen coming from underneath the semi before it became fully engulfed.

Two lanes of the 10 freeway were shut down while firefighters worked to put out the fire.

Both lanes were opened after about an hour, but the number 3 lane was shut down again for about 30 minutes to remove what was left of the semi from the shoulder.

No injuries were reported.
