Woman rescued while hiking in Palm Springs

A woman was rescued while hiking along the trails near the Rimrock Shopping Center on Gene Autry Trail and East Palm Canyon Drive Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said she was roughly three miles up the trail at an elevation of about 2,500 feet. She’s a regular hiker but said she became fatigued around 3 p.m. and couldn’t make it any farther.

A CHP helicopter located her and airlifted her to safety around 4 p.m., bringing her down close to Von’s grocery store.

The woman wasn’t injured but was checked out by paramedics as a precaution. She left with her husband.
