Pedestrian identified after deadly collision in Indio
A 61-year-old man was killed Thursday night in Indio after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing Avenue 46 around 6:20 p.m.
The collision happened just west of Clinton Street near Indio High School and the Indio Community Center.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the man as David Beck from Indio.
Police said Beck was crossing the street in dark clothing and wasn’t at a crosswalk. The driver stopped and is cooperating with authorities.
Investigators said speed didn’t appear to be a factor in the collision, but people who live nearby told News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 that both speed and poor lighting is a deadly combination in the area.
