A U.S. Border Patrol agent arrested for murder
A U.S. Border Patrol agent is behind bars after allegedly shooting a man to death in east Hemet while he was off duty Saturday.
Forty-year-old John Demery confronted 27-year-old Adam Thomas at a home when an argument started that ended with Demery shooting Thomas.
Sheriff deputies found Thomas with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at a hospital.
The border patrol issued a statement saying Demery is an agent assigned to its San Diego sector and has been suspended while the investigation continues.
