Pedestrian ID’d in deadly Palm Springs collision

A 60-year-old man has been identified after he was hit and killed by a car in Palm Springs early Saturday evening.

Michael Kozmiuk was walking across east Ramon Road, just west of Sunrise Way, around 5:30 p.m. when he was struck by the car. Police arrived to find him lying in the roadway.

Kozmuik was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with authorities. Police said alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol assisted the Palm Springs Police Department with the investigation.
