Desert Hot Springs shooting victim dies

Update 5:00 p.m: A man was shot during an incident that occurred in the 66000 block of Cahuilla Avenue at approximately 10:18 am. He was taken to Desert Regional Hospital by ambulance and succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities aren’t releasing additional information at this time, pending notifications and further follow up interviews.

A shooting was reported in Desert Hot Springs around 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

A man was shot in the head and has been taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Commander John Holcomb with the Desert Hot Springs Police Department said.

Cahuilla Avenue and Desert View Avenue have been blocked off to traffic between West Drive and Cactus Drive while the investigation takes place.

Commander Holcomb said the victim was in the street on a bike with two of his friends alongside him when the shooting occurred. Multiple shots were fired.

Neither of the victim’s friends were injured in the shooting and there’s currently no information regarding suspects.
