Car strikes power pole near Desert Hot Springs

The California Highway Patrol is trying to figure out what caused a driver to strike a power pole along Dillon Road near Desert Hot Springs Thursday afternoon.

According to officers on the scene, just before 2:30 p.m. for some unknown reason the driver of a Ford Crown Victoria crashed into a power pole on Dillon Road near Angelus Vista Street.

At least one person was transported to the hospital. The power pole was sheared off and left dangling by power lines, but residents in the area told us they still had power.

Southern California Edison crews have been dispatched to the scene, meanwhile officers continue to investigate what lead to the crash.
