Coachella Valley organizations provide free Thanksgiving meals

Volunteers are chopping away, peeling and stirring, eagerly preparing to serve holiday feasts to thousands of people in the Coachella Valley this Thanksgiving.

“It’s a busy place during the holidays and a busy place every day. People are lining up already to get food boxes,” said Coachella Valley Rescue Mission executive director Darla Burkett.

There are several organizations serving free hot holiday meals or providing a Thanksgiving feast, including a whole turkey or chicken and all the trimmings, for people to take home to their families this week.
