18-year-old accused of attempting to meet a minor for lewd purposes

An 18-year-old La Quinta man was arrested after being accused of attempting to meet a minor for lewd purposes.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the accusation was reported in the city of Coachella on Tuesday at approximately 2:55 a.m.

An RSO news release reveals that deputies discovered that Jonathan Joseph Munoz, 18, allegedly contacted a 14-year-old female and "attempted to obtain her participation in specific sexual acts."

Deputies contacted Munoz in La Quinta and placed him under arrest without incident at approximately 5:54 a.m., according to jail records.

Munoz was subsequently booked at the Indio Jail for arranging to meet with a minor for lewd purposes. Jail records show he was released on $5,000 bail the same day.
